Cinnamon Apple and Pecan Tart
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, and cinnamon until the apples are evenly coated.
- Arrange the apple mixture in a pattern that leaves a 1-inch border around the edges of the pastry.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the apple filling.
- Fold the edges of the pastry up over the filling to create a crust, pressing gently to seal.
- Brush the top of the tart with the melted butter and drizzle with caramel sauce.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Allow the tart to cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Variations:
- Add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg over the pecans for extra flavor.
- Use a combination of Granny Smith and Gala apples for a sweet and tangy filling.
- Replace the caramel sauce with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for a different flavor profile.
