Chocolate Souffle Extravaganza

A rich and decadent chocolate soufflé dessert, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) dark chocolate chips (at least 70% cocoa)
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, at room temperature
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Butter six 1-cup ramekins and dust them with sugar.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval until smooth.

Chocolate Soufflé:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is pale yellow and thick.
  3. Add the flour mixture to the milk mixture and whisk until smooth.
  4. Stir in the melted chocolate.

Egg Whites:

  1. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites and a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.

Assembly:

  1. Gently fold one-quarter of the egg whites into the chocolate mixture to lighten it.
  2. Add the remaining egg whites and gently fold until no white streaks remain.
  3. Pour the soufflé batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about three-quarters full.

Baking:

  1. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until puffed and set.
  3. Remove from the oven and dust with powdered sugar.

Serving:

  1. Serve immediately, as soufflés are best enjoyed straight from the oven.
