Apple and Cranberry Crumble Tart

A twist on the classic apple crumble, this tart combines tender apples and cranberries with a crunchy oat and brown sugar topping.

Apple and Cranberry Crumble Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat and Prep the Pastry

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Transfer the pastry to a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.

Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and cranberries. Add the granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon; mix until the fruit is evenly coated. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, allowing the juices to release.

Assemble and Top the Tart

Arrange the apple-cranberry mixture in an even layer on the pastry-lined tart pan. Fold the edges of the pastry up over the filling to form a crust. Mix the rolled oats and brown sugar in a small bowl; sprinkle this crumble topping evenly over the fruit.

Bake the Tart

Bake the tart for 40-45 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown, and the apples are tender. If using walnuts, sprinkle them on top of the tart during the last 10 minutes of baking.

Serve Warm

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired!
