Strawberry and Balsamic Glazed Apple Crumble Bars

Ingredients:
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and strawberries. Mix in the granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, and brown sugar.
- Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry blender or your fingers to work it into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press half of the crumb mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Top with the apple-strawberry mixture, then sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is tender.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before glazing with balsamic glaze.
Strawberry Balsamic Glaze
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
Instructions:
- In a blender or food processor, puree the sliced strawberries until smooth.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seeds.
- Whisk together the strawberry puree and balsamic vinegar in a small bowl.
- Add the granulated sugar and whisk until dissolved.
To serve, slice into bars and drizzle with the strawberry balsamic glaze.
