Strawberry and Balsamic Crème Brûlée Bars

Ingredients:
Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
Filling:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
Instructions:
- Make the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, confectioners' sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until a crumbly dough forms.
- Press the crust: Press the dough into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Bake the crust: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
- Make the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, granulated sugar, balsamic glaze, egg yolks, and vanilla extract.
- Pour in the filling: Pour the filling over the baked crust.
- Top with strawberries: Arrange the sliced strawberries on top of the filling.
- Bake again: Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is lightly golden brown.
- Chill and caramelize sugar: Let cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Just before serving, sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar over the top and caramelize with a kitchen torch.
