Strawberry Basil Crumble
A delightful summer dessert that combines the sweetness of strawberries with the freshness of basil.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and chopped basil. Mix until the berries are evenly coated with the sugar and basil.
Make the Crumble Topping
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, rolled oats, and brown sugar. Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and use your fingers or a pastry blender to work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Assemble the Crumble
Transfer the strawberry filling to a 9x9-inch baking dish. Top with the crumble topping, spreading it evenly to cover the berries.
Bake the Crumble
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
