Spicy Shrimp Tacos

A flavorful and spicy taco recipe featuring succulent shrimp, crunchy slaw, and creamy avocado.

Spicy Shrimp Tacos

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • Slaw (see below)
  • Avocado slices
  • Lime wedges

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together lime juice, cilantro, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Add the shrimp to the marinade and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes or up to 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the shrimp from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.
  4. Cook the shrimp in batches until pink and just cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Warm the tortillas by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.
  6. Assemble the tacos by placing a few pieces of cooked shrimp onto each tortilla, then top with slaw and avocado slices.

Slaw:

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl until well combined. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Notes:

  • You can also add some sliced radishes or diced tomatoes on top of the slaw for extra flavor.
  • For an extra kick, sprinkle some diced jalapeño peppers onto each taco.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
