Spicy Pineapple and Prosciutto Flatbread
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Toppings:
- 1 large pineapple, sliced into wedges
- 6 slices of prosciutto, torn into pieces
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Frank's RedHot)
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until the yeast is activated.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10-12 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Arrange the pineapple wedges on top of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Drizzle the honey over the pineapple, then sprinkle the torn prosciutto pieces and shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and brush with hot sauce mixture (honey and hot sauce mixed together).
- Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving.
