Spiced Pear and Ginger Crumble Bars

A twist on classic crumble bars, featuring warm spiced pears and a gingery oat topping. Perfect for fall gatherings or a cozy afternoon treat.

Ingredients:

  • Filling:
    • 4 ripe but firm pears, peeled, cored, and diced
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Crumble Topping:
    • 1 cup rolled oats
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the diced pears, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. Toss to coat.
  3. Pour the pear mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  4. In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, ginger, and salt for the crumble topping. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the pear filling.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy!
