Spiced Citrus Shrimp Tacos with Creamy Avocado Salsa

A vibrant and flavorful twist on classic tacos, featuring succulent shrimp marinated in a fragrant citrus spice blend and served with a cool and creamy avocado salsa.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb raw peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • For the Avocado Salsa:
  • 2 ripe avocados, mashed
  • ¼ cup chopped red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the olive oil, cumin, paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper (if using), orange zest, and lime juice. Season with salt and black pepper. Add the shrimp and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and cooked through. Set aside.
  3. While the shrimp is cooking, prepare the avocado salsa. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  4. Warm the tortillas according to package directions.
  5. To assemble the tacos, fill each tortilla with cooked shrimp and top with avocado salsa. Serve immediately.
