Matcha and White Chocolate Chip Cookies
Servings
8-10 cookies
Ingredients
Dry ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
Wet ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp matcha powder (Japanese green tea powder)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Add-ins
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped macadamia nuts
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the oven and prepare baking sheets
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Step 2: Whisk together dry ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3: Cream together butter and sugars
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter and white granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar and continue mixing until well combined.
Step 4: Beat in eggs and matcha powder
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the matcha powder and vanilla extract.
Step 5: Mix in dry ingredients and add-ins
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients (flour mixture) until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Stir in white chocolate chips and chopped macadamia nuts.
Step 6: Scoop cookie dough onto prepared baking sheets
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
Step 7: Bake cookies
Bake for 12-14 minutes or until edges are lightly golden brown. Centers will be set but still slightly soft.
Step 8: Cool cookies on baking sheets
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For an extra matcha kick, you can sprinkle a pinch of matcha powder on top of each cookie before baking.
- If using high-quality white chocolate chips, be sure to store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain the white chocolate's flavor and texture.
