Matcha Tiramisu Trifle

A Japanese-inspired twist on the classic Italian dessert, featuring matcha-infused ladyfingers and a creamy mascarpone cheese mixture.

Ingredients:

For the matcha ladyfingers:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

For the mascarpone cheese mixture:

  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

For the whipped cream:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions:

Make the matcha ladyfingers:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg whites and granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Add milk to the egg mixture and whisk until well combined.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Spoon the batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Make the mascarpone cheese mixture:

  1. In a medium bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  2. Add granulated sugar to the whipped cream and continue whipping until well combined.
  3. Fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth.

Assemble the trifle:

  1. Cut matcha ladyfingers into 1-inch pieces and layer them with the mascarpone mixture in a large serving dish.
  2. Repeat the layers two more times, ending with a layer of whipped cream on top.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality matcha powder for the best flavor.
  • Don't overmix the batter or the mascarpone mixture to ensure light and fluffy textures.
  • Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
