Matcha Mousse Tiramisu Tart

A unique dessert that combines the brightness of matcha mousse with the Italian classic tiramisu, all wrapped up in a flaky pastry tart.

The Title

Ingredients

For the Pastry Dough:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp water

For the Matcha Mousse Tiramisu Filling:

  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 2 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 12-16 ladyfingers

For the Whipped Cream Topping:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions

Make the Pastry Dough:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  2. Add the cold butter and use a pastry blender or your fingers to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the beaten egg and water; stir with a fork until the dough comes together in a ball.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the Matcha Mousse Tiramisu Filling:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mascarpone cheese, matcha powder, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  2. Beat in the egg yolks until smooth.
  3. Stir in the brewed coffee.
  4. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for about 3-5 seconds on each side.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Assemble and Bake the Tart:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the chilled pastry dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch (3mm).
  3. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch (23cm) tart pan with a removable bottom.
  4. Arrange the ladyfingers on the bottom of the tart shell, overlapping them slightly.
  5. Spread the matcha mousse tiramisu filling over the ladyfingers.
  6. Top with whipped cream and decorate as desired.

Chill and Serve:

  1. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.
  2. Slice into wedges and serve chilled.
