Maple Pecan Crumble Bars

Ingredients
For the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the filling:
- 2 cups mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
Preheat oven and prepare crust:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
Prepare filling:
In a separate bowl, mix together berries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract.
Assemble and bake bars:
Pour the filling into the prepared crust. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Variations
- Use a mixture of dark and light brown sugar for a richer flavor.
- Add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness.
Note: I used random number generator to pick recipe #8 (Caramel flan) as inspiration, then modified it into a completely different recipe.
