Maple Bacon Donuts

Sweet and savory donuts filled with crispy maple bacon.

Maple Bacon Donuts

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup

Instructions

Make the Donuts

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Fry the Donuts

  1. Preheat the oil to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal pieces.
  3. Roll out each piece into a thin sheet.
  4. Cut out donut shapes using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.
  5. Fry the donuts for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown.

Fill with Maple Bacon

  1. Let the donuts cool for 5 minutes before filling.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together crumbled bacon and maple syrup.
  3. Using a pastry bag or a spoon, fill each donut with the maple bacon mixture.

Serve

  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
