Maple Bacon Donuts
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
Instructions
Make the Donuts
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Fry the Donuts
- Preheat the oil to 350°F (180°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal pieces.
- Roll out each piece into a thin sheet.
- Cut out donut shapes using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.
- Fry the donuts for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown.
Fill with Maple Bacon
- Let the donuts cool for 5 minutes before filling.
- In a small bowl, mix together crumbled bacon and maple syrup.
- Using a pastry bag or a spoon, fill each donut with the maple bacon mixture.
Serve
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
