Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (100g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (120g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (120g) chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1/2 cup (30g) unsweetened shredded coconut, toasted

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Brownies

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt; set aside.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate and Butter

  1. In a double boiler or a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, melt the chocolate chips and butter. Stir occasionally until smooth.

Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  2. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until well combined.

Step 4: Combine the Dry Ingredients

  1. Gradually add the flour mixture to the chocolate mixture; stir until just combined.
  2. Do not overmix.

Step 5: Add the Toppings

  1. Stir in toasted pecans and coconut flakes.

Step 6: Pour into Baking Pan and Bake

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted 2 inches from the pan's edge comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.

Notes:

  • Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
  • Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
