Cinnamon Apple Panna Cotta
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 cup caramelized apples (see below for recipe)
- Fresh cinnamon sticks for garnish
Caramelized Apples:
- 4-5 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions:
Make the caramelized apples:
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced apples and cook for 5-7 minutes or until they start to caramelize.
- Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes or until the apples are tender and caramelized.
Make the panna cotta:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Remove from heat and let steep for 10-15 minutes or until the mixture has cooled slightly.
- Whisk in the egg yolks and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the caramelized apples.
Assemble the panna cotta:
- Pour the panna cotta mixture into individual serving cups or a large serving dish.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to chill and set.
- Garnish with fresh cinnamon sticks before serving.
