Cinnamon Apple Galette with Salted Caramel Glaze and Pecan Crust

A sweet and savory galette filled with tender apples, crunchy pecans, and a drizzle of salted caramel glaze.

Cinnamon Apple Galette with Salted Caramel Glaze and Pecan Crust

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Salted caramel glaze (see below)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling

  1. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until apples are evenly coated.
  2. Set aside to let the filling sit for at least 30 minutes.

Make the Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together chopped pecans and brown sugar.
  4. Spread the nut mixture evenly over the center of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  5. Arrange sliced apples on top of the pecan mixture.

Assemble the Galette

  1. Roll the edges of the pastry over the filling to form a crust, pressing gently to seal.
  2. Brush the pastry with melted butter and sprinkle with salted caramel glaze (see below).

Bake the Galette

  1. Place the galette on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.

Salted Caramel Glaze

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the glaze thickens.

Serve

Cut the galette into wedges and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
