Cinnamon Apple Galette with Salted Caramel Glaze
Ingredients
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Salted caramel glaze (see below)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, and cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- Transfer dough to a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
- Arrange apple slices in a spiral pattern on top of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around edges.
- Fold edges of dough up over apples, pressing gently to seal.
- Brush egg wash over dough and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
Salted Caramel Glaze
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Combine heavy cream, butter, vanilla extract, and sea salt in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Stir in granulated sugar until dissolved.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Assembly
- Drizzle warm caramel glaze over galette before serving.
