Cinnamon Apple Galette with Salted Caramel Glaze

A twist on the classic cinnamon apple galette, this dessert features a flaky pastry crust topped with tender apples, warm cinnamon, and a drizzle of salted caramel glaze.

Cinnamon Apple Galette with Salted Caramel Glaze

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salted caramel glaze (see below)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, and cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Roll out dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  5. Transfer dough to a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
  6. Arrange apple slices in a spiral pattern on top of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around edges.
  7. Fold edges of dough up over apples, pressing gently to seal.
  8. Brush egg wash over dough and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.

Salted Caramel Glaze

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  1. Combine heavy cream, butter, vanilla extract, and sea salt in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in granulated sugar until dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Assembly

  • Drizzle warm caramel glaze over galette before serving.
