- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
- Brown sugar glaze (see below)
Instructions:
Prepare the Pecan Crust
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a food processor, pulse together pecans and brown sugar until well combined.
- Add in cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; process until fragrant.
- Roll out pie crust to desired thickness.
Assemble the Galette
- Arrange apple slices in concentric circles on one half of the crust, leaving a 1-inch border around edges.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture.
- Fold other half of the crust over apples and press edges together to seal.
- Brush crust with egg wash (beaten egg mixed with water) for golden color.
Bake the Galette
- Place galette on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake 40-45 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is tender.
Prepare Brown Sugar Glaze
- Mix together equal parts powdered sugar and brown sugar in a small bowl.
- Add in milk (or cream) to achieve desired consistency.
- Brush glaze over warm galette for caramelized flavor and crunchy texture.
Notes:
- For an extra crunchy crust, bake the pecan mixture on its own for 5-7 minutes before assembling galette.
