Cinnamon Apple Galette with Pecan Crust and Bourbon Whipped Cream

Cinnamon Apple Galette with Pecan Crust and Bourbon Whipped Cream

Ingredients:

For the Pecan Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, toasted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Apple Filling:

  • 6-8 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

For the Bourbon Whipped Cream:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon whiskey (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Pecan Crust

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a food processor, combine pecans, sugar, flour, and salt.
  3. Process until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in melted butter until well combined.
  5. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.

Step 2: Prepare the Apple Filling

  1. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Mix until the apples are evenly coated with the dry ingredients.
  3. Stir in unsalted butter until well combined.

Step 3: Assemble the Galette

  1. Arrange the apple mixture on top of the pecan crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  2. Fold the edges of the pecan crust up over the apples to form a crust.
  3. Brush the crust with an egg wash (beaten egg mixed with a little water) for a golden glaze.

Step 4: Bake and Chill

  1. Bake the galette at 375°F (190°C) for 40-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  2. Allow the galette to cool completely in the pan.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Step 5: Prepare the Bourbon Whipped Cream

  1. In a medium bowl, whip heavy cream and granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  2. Stir in bourbon whiskey (if using).

Serve:

  • Slice the galette into wedges and serve with a dollop of bourbon whipped cream on top.
