Cinnamon Apple Galette with Pecan Crust and Bourbon Whipped Cream

Ingredients:
For the Pecan Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups pecans, toasted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Apple Filling:
- 6-8 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
For the Bourbon Whipped Cream:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons bourbon whiskey (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Pecan Crust
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a food processor, combine pecans, sugar, flour, and salt.
- Process until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in melted butter until well combined.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
Step 2: Prepare the Apple Filling
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Mix until the apples are evenly coated with the dry ingredients.
- Stir in unsalted butter until well combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Galette
- Arrange the apple mixture on top of the pecan crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Fold the edges of the pecan crust up over the apples to form a crust.
- Brush the crust with an egg wash (beaten egg mixed with a little water) for a golden glaze.
Step 4: Bake and Chill
- Bake the galette at 375°F (190°C) for 40-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Allow the galette to cool completely in the pan.

- In a medium bowl, whip heavy cream and granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
