The Cinnamon Apple Galette with Pecan Crust Recipe
Servings: 8-10 people
Ingredients:
For the Pecan Crust:
- 1 cup of pecans
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
For the Apple Filling:
- 6-8 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Pecan Crust
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a medium-sized bowl, combine the pecans, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until well combined.
Add in the melted butter and mix until the mixture forms a crumbly dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Step 2: Prepare the Apple Filling
In a separate large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until the apples are evenly coated with the dry ingredients.
Step 3: Assemble the Galette
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled pecan crust dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch (3 mm). Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Arrange the apple filling in the center of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around it. Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pressing gently to seal the galette.
Step 4: Bake the Galette
Bake the galette for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Step 5: Serve
Remove the galette from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10-15 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired. Enjoy!
