Cinnamon Apple Galette with Maple Pecan Crumble
Ingredients
- 6-8 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
- For the crumble topping:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
Preparing the filling
In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix until the apples are evenly coated with the dry ingredients.
Assembling the galette
Roll out the pie crust to a thickness of about 1/8 inch (3 mm). Place the apple mixture in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch (5 cm) border around the edges. Fold the dough over the apples, pressing gently to seal the edges.
Preparing the crumble topping
In a small bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, and chopped pecans until well combined. Add maple syrup and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Baking the galette
Place the galette on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the galette. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serving
Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream if desired. Enjoy!
