Apple Cider Crumble Pie (A Variation of Cinnamon Apple Galette)
Ingredients
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup apple cider
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
Make the Apple Filling
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until the apples are evenly coated with the dry ingredients.
- Add the apple cider to the apple mixture and toss until the apples are well-coated.
Prepare the Crumble Topping
- In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, rolled oats, and chopped walnuts. Mix until well combined.
- Add the cold butter to the crumble topping mixture and use your fingers or a pastry blender to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Assemble and Bake the Pie
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a 9-inch pie dish, arrange the apple filling in an even layer.
- Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apple filling.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serve Warm
- Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream if desired.
