Cinnamon Apple Galette Variation - Apple Cider Crumble Pie

A twist on the classic apple crumble, this dessert combines the warmth of cinnamon with the sweetness of caramelized apples and a hint of apple cider.

Apple Cider Crumble Pie (A Variation of Cinnamon Apple Galette)

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

Make the Apple Filling

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until the apples are evenly coated with the dry ingredients.
  2. Add the apple cider to the apple mixture and toss until the apples are well-coated.

Prepare the Crumble Topping

  1. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, rolled oats, and chopped walnuts. Mix until well combined.
  2. Add the cold butter to the crumble topping mixture and use your fingers or a pastry blender to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Assemble and Bake the Pie

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a 9-inch pie dish, arrange the apple filling in an even layer.
  3. Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apple filling.
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Serve Warm

  1. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  2. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream if desired.
