Description
A twist on the classic pecan pie, these bars combine the nutty flavor with a rich chocolate coating.
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- Confectioners' sugar for dusting
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare the Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2: Make the Crust
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir in the melted butter until well combined. Press this mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Step 3: Bake the Crust
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is lightly golden brown. Set aside to cool slightly.
Step 4: Prepare the Pecan Filling
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir in the melted butter and pecans until well combined.
Step 5: Bake the Bars
Spread the pecan filling evenly over the cooled crust. Return to the oven for an additional 25-30 minutes or until set.
Step 6: Melt the Chocolate
Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval, until smooth.
Step 7: Assemble and Chill
Once the bars have cooled completely, dip them into the melted chocolate. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
Serve
Cut into bars and serve with a dusting of confectioners' sugar if desired. Enjoy!
