Ingredients:
- 6-8 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup cookie dough (see below for recipe)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Cookie Dough:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
- Pour melted butter over the apple mixture and toss until coated.
- Transfer apple mixture to a 9x9-inch baking dish.
Assembly:
- Roll out cookie dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/4 inch.
- Cut dough into strips, approximately 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
- Place cookie dough strips on top of apple mixture in an overlapping pattern.
- Sprinkle rolled oats and brown sugar evenly over the cookie dough.
Baking:
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Cookie Dough Notes:
- Chill cookie dough in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Cut cookies into desired shapes using a cookie cutter before baking.
