Caramel Apple Tres Leches Cake

A moist and decadent cake filled with caramel apples, topped with a tres leches mixture and toasted pecans.

Ingredients

All-purpose flour 2 cups
Granulated sugar 1 cup
Brown sugar 1/2 cup
Ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon
Baking powder 1 teaspoon
Salt 1/4 teaspoon
Unsalted butter, melted 1 cup
Large eggs 3
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
Caramel apples (see note) 2 cups
Tres leches mixture (see note) 2 cups

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Cake

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the caramel apples.

Step 2: Prepare the Tres Leches Mixture

  • Whisk together evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream.
  • Pour the mixture over the batter in the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 3: Top with Caramel Sauce and Toasted Pecans

  • Drizzle caramel sauce over the top of the cake.
  • Sprinkle toasted pecans over the caramel sauce.

Notes

  • To make caramel apples, dip apple slices in hot caramel sauce and let cool.
  • To make the tres leches mixture, whisk together evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream.
