Caramel Apple Tart
Ingredients
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- Confectioners' sugar for dusting
Instructions
Preparing the Pastry
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- Transfer the pastry to a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
Caramelizing the Apples
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp of butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced apples and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they're tender and lightly caramelized.
- Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the apples and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Assembling the Tart
- Arrange the caramelized apple slices in a concentric circle pattern on the pastry-lined tart pan.
- Fold the edges of the pastry up over the apples, pressing gently to seal.
Baking the Tart
- Bake the tart at 375°F (190°C) for about 40-45 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Remove the tart from the oven and brush the pastry with a little bit of melted butter.
Drizzling with Caramel Sauce
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples in a zig-zag pattern.
- Sprinkle confectioners' sugar over the top of the tart for garnish.
