Caramel Apple Pie with Pecan Crust and Bourbon Whipped Cream

A delightful dessert that combines the sweetness of caramelized apples with the crunch of a pecan crust and the richness of bourbon-infused whipped cream.

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

For the Filling:

  • 6-8 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

For the Bourbon Whipped Cream:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon whiskey

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. To make the crust, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture forms a crumbly dough. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  3. Press the dough into a 9-inch pie dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  4. To make the filling, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl. Mix well to coat the apples evenly. Dot the top with the unsalted butter.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the baked pie crust and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the filling is bubbly and the apples are tender.
  6. While the pie is baking, prepare the bourbon whipped cream by whipping the heavy cream and granulated sugar together in a small bowl until stiff peaks form. Stir in the bourbon whiskey.
  7. Once the pie has finished baking, let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving with the bourbon whipped cream spooned on top.
