Caramel Apple Pie with Pecan Crust and Bourbon Whipped Cream
A delightful dessert that combines the sweetness of caramelized apples with the crunch of a pecan crust and the richness of bourbon-infused whipped cream.
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup chopped pecans
For the Filling:
- 6-8 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
For the Bourbon Whipped Cream:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons bourbon whiskey
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- To make the crust, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Add the melted butter and stir until the mixture forms a crumbly dough. Stir in the chopped pecans.
- Press the dough into a 9-inch pie dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
- To make the filling, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl. Mix well to coat the apples evenly. Dot the top with the unsalted butter.
- Pour the apple mixture into the baked pie crust and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the filling is bubbly and the apples are tender.
- While the pie is baking, prepare the bourbon whipped cream by whipping the heavy cream and granulated sugar together in a small bowl until stiff peaks form. Stir in the bourbon whiskey.
- Once the pie has finished baking, let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving with the bourbon whipped cream spooned on top.
