Caramel Apple Galette with Pecan Crust and Cinnamon Swirl
Ingredients:
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Confectioners' sugar (for dusting)
Instructions:
Make the Pecan Crust:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, and salt.
- Add chopped pecans and stir until combined.
Make the Caramel Apple Filling:
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until apples are caramelized.
- Stir in cornstarch to thicken the mixture.
Assemble the Galette:
- Roll out the Pecan Crust to a thickness of about 1/4 inch (6 mm).
- Spread the Caramel Apple Filling over the center of the crust, leaving a 1-inch (2.5 cm) border around the edges.
- Fold the edges of the crust up over the filling to form a crust.
Add the Cinnamon Swirl:
- In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and brown sugar.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over the filling.
Bake the Galette:
- Brush the edges of the crust with egg wash for glazing.
- Place the galette on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Serve:
- Dust with confectioners' sugar before serving.
- Serve warm, topped with whipped cream if desired.
