Apple and Cinnamon Waffles with Cream Cheese Topping

A delicious twist on traditional waffles, infused with the warmth of cinnamon and topped with a tangy cream cheese mixture.

Apple and Cinnamon Waffles with Cream Cheese Topping

Ingredients

For the Waffles:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup diced apple (about 1 medium apple)
  • Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

For the Cream Cheese Topping:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh apple (about 1/2 medium apple)

Instructions

Make the Waffles:

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, cinnamon, and diced apple.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Do not overmix.

Cook the Waffles:

  1. The batter should still be slightly lumpy.
  2. Pour about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the center of the waffle iron.
  3. Close the lid and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown.
  4. Repeat with the remaining batter.

Make the Cream Cheese Topping:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add the softened butter, vanilla extract, and confectioners' sugar.
  3. Beat until combined and creamy.

Assemble and Serve:

  1. Dust the waffles with confectioners' sugar.
  2. Top each waffle with a dollop of the cream cheese mixture.
  3. Garnish with chopped fresh apple.

Notes

  • You can make the batter ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
  • If you prefer a crispy waffle, cook them for an additional minute or until golden brown.
  • The cream cheese topping can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
