Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon apple cider syrup
- Confectioners' sugar for dusting
- White chocolate glaze (see below)
- Macadamia nuts for garnish
Instructions
Apple Cider Syrup
- Combine 1 cup water and 1 cup granulated sugar in a saucepan.
- Add 2 tablespoons apple cider and stir to combine.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Donuts
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add melted butter, egg, and apple cider syrup. Mix until a smooth batter forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop dough into hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry donuts for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain.
White Chocolate Glaze
- Melt 1 cup white chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over donuts while still warm.
Assembly
- Dust donuts with confectioners' sugar.
- Top each donut with a piece of macadamia nut and drizzle with white chocolate glaze.
- Serve immediately.
